Rik Ceyssens holds a doctorate in cultural anthropology from Catholic University, Nijmegen. He has taught at the Institut supérieur pédagogique, Université nationale du Zaïre in Kananga on the staff of Coopération technique belge. His principal research has been conducted in the administrative zones of Tshikapa, Lwiza, and Mwene-Diitu.
