New Acquisitions of African Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art

Constantine Petridis
Constantine Petridis is Curator of African Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art and a consulting editor of African Arts. He has been a corresponding member of the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences of Belgium since 2003. His Art and Power in the Central African Savanna, published in conjunction with an exhibition of the same name, won the 2008 Midwest Art History Society Award for Outstanding Exhibition Catalogue. In 2010 Petridis succeeded Anne-Marie Bouttiaux as editor of the series Visions of Africa published by 5 Continents in Milan. He is currently organizing an exhibition with publication titled “The Art of Daily Life: Portable Objects from Southeast Africa,” which is scheduled to open at the Cleveland Museum of Art on April 17, 2011. cpetridis@clevelandart.org
