Pamela Allara
Pamela Allara is Associate Professor Emerita of Brandeis University and a visiting researcher in the African Studies Center at Boston University. The author of Pictures of People: Alice Neel's American Portrait Gallery (1998/2000), her recent research has been on activist art, with emphasis on South African art. Co-organizer of “Co-existence: Contemporary Cultural Production in South Africa” (Rose Art Gallery, Brandeis and SANG, Cape Town, 2003), she also curated “The Boston-Joburg Connection: Collaboration and Exchange at the Artist Proof Studio, Johannesburg” (Tufts University Art Gallery, 2012). allara@brandeis.edu
