Rhoda Woets is a cultural anthropologist who completed her PhD in 2011 at the VU University in Amsterdam. Her dissertation is entitled “‘What Is This?’ Framing Ghanaian Art from the Colonial Encounter to the Present.” It explores at the underlying ideological premises and contestations under-pinning the category of modern and contemporary Ghanaian art since its inception in colonial times.
