Senior Lecturer in Anthropology at the School of World Art Studies and Museology of the University of East Anglia, where he teaches the anthropology of art, material culture, public memory, and heritage. His publications include Masquerades of Modernity: Power and Secrecy in Casamance, Senegal and Reclaiming Heritage: Alternative Imaginaries of Memory in West Africa (co-edited with Michael Rowlands). Judith Quax
Judith Quax
Studied at the Photo Academy in Amsterdam. Her projects touch themes like cultural identity, differences in cultures, religion and spirituality. She exhibited (a.o.) at the Dak'art Biennale 2008 in Dakar, Senegal, the Dutch Photobiennale Noorderlicht in Groningen, 2007, and was selected by curator Akinbode Akinbiyi for the exhibition “Spot on Dak'art” in Berlin, Germany, 2009.
