Cécile Fromont is an assistant professor in the Department of Art History at the University of Chicago. She received her Ph.D. in the history of art and architecture of Africa and Colonial Latin America at Harvard University and was a postdoctoral scholar at the Michigan Society of Fellows. She is currently working on a book exploring the art of conversion in the early modern Kingdom of Kongo. [email protected]
