ARTMargins publishes scholarly articles and essays about contemporary art, media, architecture, and critical theory. ARTMargins studies art practices and visual culture in the emerging global margins, from North Africa and the Middle East to the Americas, Eastern and Western Europe, Asia and Australasia. The journal acts as a forum for scholars, theoreticians, and critics from a variety of disciplines who are interested in art and politics in transitional countries and regions; postsocialism and neo-liberalism; postmodernism and postcolonialism, and their critiques; and the problem of global art and global art history and its methodologies.

Statement on the War in Ukraine From The Editors of ARTMargins

Vladimir Putin’s brutal unilateral attack on Ukraine, a sovereign country, is an escalation of Russia’s neo-imperialist ambitions. We unequivocally condemn this unprovoked act of aggression that jeopardizes the livelihood and security of millions of people in the region and beyond. People whose right to determine their own destiny is being trampled upon by the arrogance and delusion of the Russian regime. The responsibility for this war and the loss of lives lies squarely with Russia’s political elite and its fantasy of neo-imperial grandeur. We stand with everyone in Russia and Ukraine who opposes this senseless war.
