Chalongphop Sussangkarn agreed with the first discussant's observation that the study lacked a coherent conceptual framework. He also noted that countries in Africa were missing from the study; he felt that these countries were important because their inclusion would add a new dimension on why countries are ready to import waste. African countries import waste because they have use for the products that can be recycled from the waste. They also import waste that requires labor to recycle because it provides employment. He also suggested using a quadratic income term in the equation to capture the effects of income changes on the waste trade.
