Vu Quoc Huy: Chinese outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) has become a subject of intensive research in recent years. The reason is that the Chinese Go Global initiative has resulted in increased outflows of Chinese investment to the rest of the world. On the one hand, the surge of Chinese OFDI is considered by many as a natural step in the development path of China as an emerging economy. From this perspective, traditional ways to explain the motivations of Chinese OFDI is applied. On the other hand, many see Chinese OFDI as a new phenomenon with the Chinese characteristics in the international investment and financial world because of its specific features in terms of motivations, strategy, and implementation (Ivar 2009; Davies 2013; You 2015).
