Sherry Tao Kong,  Peking University: The present paper investigates one of the most studied questions in labor economics, namely, the labor market impact of immigrants. The focus is on China and the subject of study is internal migrants. The paper is well structured and reads well. Compared with previous literature, the strength of this paper is its use of census data in combination of the Urban Household Survey data from the National Bureau of Statistics, China. This paper makes a timely contribution to the continuing policy adjustments in the hukou system as an ongoing effort to promote urbanization. The findings of the study are intuitive and can serve as empirical evidence to inform both policymakers and researchers.
