Mary Alice Haddad is John E. Andrus Professor of Government and Professor of East Asian and Environmental Studies at Wesleyan University, where she is also Director of the Office of Faculty and Career Development and Chair and Professor of East Asian Studies. She is the author of Building Democracy in Japan and Politics and Volunteering in Japan: A Global Perspective.
