Esko Kurvinen is a research scientist at the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT. He has worked as designer, researcher and consultant in process industry and in the area of mobile communication. His research interests relate to interpersonal communication and social interaction in technology mediated or technology intensive environments and situations.

Ilpo Koskinen
Ilpo Koskinen is a sociologist who works as professor of industrial design in Helsinki. His current research interests are interpretive design methodology and the relationship of design and society. However, his most recent book, Mobile Multimedia in Action by Transaction Books, deals with mobile multimedia messaging from a sociological point of view.

Katja Battarbee
Katja Battarbee
Katja Battarbee is a design research with a doctorate from the University of Art and Design Helsinki, Finland. Her academic research topics were aligned around user centered design methods, user experience and co-experience. She is now an industry practitioner, working as a Human Factors specialist at IDEO, Palo Alto.
