Introduction: Pragmatism, Dewey, and Design Inquiry

Brian Dixon is Head of the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University in Belfast. His research interests draw together design methodology and design philosophy. He is a committed interdisciplinarist who sees philosophy as a medium for supporting, understanding, and doing. Brian is a co-guest editor of this special issue, Pragmatism, Dewey, and Design Inquiry.

Anna Rylander Eklund is a researcher at Chalmers University of Technology where she conducts research on democratic organizational forms and the qualitative and artistic foundations of designing, creativity, and learning. Her current and previous research projects have all been deeply inspired by the Classical Pragmatists, in particular the work of John Dewey and Mary Parker Follett. Anna is a co-guest editor of this special issue, Pragmatism, Dewey, and Design Inquiry.

Frithjof Wegener is a co-guest editor of this special issue, Pragmatism, Dewey, and Design Inquiry. He is finishing his PhD on Pragmatism and Organization Design at Warwick Business School, and he is an assistant professor in Strategic Management at Northumbria University (Amsterdam Campus). His research is focused on designing and organizing practices and processes through a pragmatist lens, especially around sustainability.
