Introduction

Bruce Brown is Emeritus Professor at the University of Brighton and a Visiting Professor at Goldsmiths College, London, and he is a co-editor for the Design Issues journal. Most recently he chaired a panel in the Hong Kong Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2020) and was chair of a Main Panel in the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF 2018). Brown is currently a research consultant for a British Council project titled Research Excellence in Vietnam (REV). He is a life member of Academia, Europaea, The Royal Society of Arts for Industry, Manufacture and Commerce, and an Honorary Fellow of The Royal College of Art, London.
