Associate Professor of Drama at Tisch School of the Arts/NYU. She is the author of Dance Marathons: Performing American Culture of the 1920s and 1930s (University Press of Mississippi, 1994), which was awarded a De la Torre Beuno citation. She is the editor of A Sourcebook of Feminist Theatre (Routledge, 1996) and the coeditor (with Henry Bial) of Brecht Sourcebook (Routledge, forthcoming).
