Gocando and the Reemergence of Suppressed Words
Komani Njogu is a Senior Lecturer in the Kiswahili and African Languages Department a Kenyatta University, Kenya. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Kiswahili National Steering Committee as well as the Kiswahili National Association (CHAKITA). Njogu received his PhD from Yale in dialogic criticism. He has published widely on varied topics ranging from linguistics, literary theory, and media studies. In addition, he has made contributions in the design and development of culturally sensitive and socially committed radio soap operas in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. Books include Ufundishaji wa Fasihi: Nadharia na Mbinu (The Teaching of Literature: Theory and Method) and Uhakiki wa Riwaya za Visiwant Zanzibar (A Criticism of the Zanzibar Novel). His current research project is on Resistance Literature.
