Newness and Pleasure: Mahagonny Songs

Professor of Theatre Studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität, Frankfurt am Main. He has written articles and books on aesthetic theory, theory of literature and theatre, ancient Greek tragedy (Theatre and Myth [Metzler Verlag, 1991]), contemporary theatre, Brecht, Robert Wilson, Heiner Müller, and others. His most recent book, Postdramatic Theatre (Verlag der Autoren, 1999), is an essay on theatre forms since 1970.
