Abstract
Hawaiian “local” theatre—for residents, not tourists—is usually set in Hawai'i, uses Hawaiian and pidgin, and explores the culture and lifestyle of the many ethnic groups that comprise Hawai'i. This local theatre originated early in the 20th century, but has been thriving even more recently.
