Igal Ezraty is one of the founders of the Arab-Hebrew Theatre in Jaffa, Israel. He teaches at Tel Aviv University and Hakibbutzim Acting Studio. Awards include the Tel Aviv 2004 Rozenblum Prize, the Margalit Prize, the 2002 Best Play of the Fringe Festival for Longing, the Shterenfeld Prize for directing Mister V, and First Prize in the Acre Fringe Festival for The Lane of White Chairs.

Freddie Rokem is Professor of Theatre Studies at Tel Aviv University and served as Dean of the Faculty of the Arts (2002–2006). His book Performing History (University of Iowa Press, 2000) received the 2001 ATHE Prize for best book in theatre studies. His most recent book is Strindberg's Secret Codes (Norvik Press, 2004). He is Editor of Theatre Research International (2006–2009) and Associate Editor of Theatre Journal and Assaph: Studies of the Theatre.

Abstract

The Trial of the Refuseniks drew attention to the moral issues of the conflict over the Israeli occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, a conflict that is still tearing Israeli society in two irreconcilable directions. The “theatrical documentary reading” is a reenactment of the military trial of five conscientious objectors, based on court transcripts.
