Jean-Marie ApostolidÈs is Professor of Classical and Contemporary French Theatre and the William H. Bonsall Professor of French at Stanford University. Author of several books in literary criticism and cultural studies, he is also a director and a playwright. His volume The Metamorphosis of Tintin was published by Stanford University Press in 2010.

She has published various articles on contemporary American theatre and translated works by Richard Schechner, David Mamet, and Alexander Mackendrick. Founder of the avantgarde movement Internationale situationniste in 1957, Guy Debord is also known for his provocative essay The Society of the Spectacle, first published in 1967 and since translated into numerous languages. Is it possible to connect the concept of “spectacle” to theatre?
