The Beijing-based Caochangdi Workstation's Minjian Jiyi Jihua (The Memory Project), launched in 2009, is an ongoing participatory creation. By engaging with genres of commemoration (e.g., oral history narratives, documentary, performance) participants retrieve and transmit the memories of peasant survivors of the Great Leap Famine of 1959 to 1961.
