The Jungle transformed San Francisco’s Curran Theatre from a bastion of old-world opulence into a turbulent refugee camp in Calais, France. But what are the politics of bringing stories of police brutality, meddling from “white savior” volunteers, deaths of loved ones, and the EU asylum system to the mainstage? When does relaying testimony become an appropriation of trauma?
