With this issue we acknowledge and celebrate Thomas Downes and Dan Goldhaber for their stellar contributions as the journal's outgoing editors. Under their expert leadership, Education Finance and Policy has continued to flourish as an essential source of research and scholarship in our field. The numbers speak for themselves: we have jumped from 12th to 6th place in Google Scholar Metrics in the area of educational administration, and in 2013, we established an impact factor just below the first quartile in Thomson Reuters Journal Citation Reports—an outcome our colleague Nick Lindsay, journals director at MIT Press, described as “stunning.” It is also worth noting that the journal has turned a profit for the past two years in a row, providing valuable support to the Association. We are more selective, too: The number of manuscripts submitted to Education Finance and Policy has doubled since 2010. All of these measures speak to the quality of the work included in this journal.
Tom and Dan have steered us toward new levels of excellence and have provided Amy Ellen Schwartz with a solid foundation on which to build the journal in the coming years. Please join me in thanking Tom and Dan for their years of dedicated service to Education Finance and Policy and to our field.
