Doors: On the Materiality of the Symbolic

Bernhard Siegert is Professor of Theory and History of Cultural Techniques in the Faculty of Media at the Bauhaus University Weimar and Director of the Internationales Kolleg für Kulturtechnikforschung und Medienphilosophie (IKKM) at Weimar. He is the author of Passagiere und Papiere: Schreibakte auf der Schwelle zwischen Spanien und Amerika (Fink & NZZlibro, 2006) and of Passage des Digitalen: Zeichenpraktiken der neuzeitlichen Wissenschaften (Brinkmann & Bose, 2003). He is also, since 2008, the coeditor of the journal Zeitschrift für Medien- und Kulturforschung.
