Recording on Film, Transmitting by Signals: The Intermediate Film System and Television's Hybridity in the Interwar Period

Anne-Katrin Weber recently earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Cinema Studies at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. Her dissertation examines the cultural and material history of interwar television and discusses the shaping of the medium through its public display at events of industrial and consumer culture. She is the coeditor with Mireille Berton of La télévision du Téléphonoscope à YouTube: Pour une archéologie de l'audiovision (Antipodes, 2009) and the author of several articles about early television history.
