Walter Benjamin's Media Theory: The Medium and the Apparat

Antonio Somaini is Professor of Film, Media, and Visual Culture Theory at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle–Paris 3. His current research deals with the history of the concept of medium and in particular with the tradition that has conceived the medium as milieu, environment, or atmosphere. He is coeditor, with Naum Kleiman, of Sergei M. Eisenstein, Notes for a General History of Cinema (Amsterdam University Press, forthcoming).
