Michael W. Jennings teaches literature, cultural theory, and the history of photography in the German Department at Princeton. He is the author of two books on Walter Benjamin (Dialectical Images, Cornell University Press, 1987; and, with Howard Eiland, A Life of Walter Benjamin, forthcoming), and serves as the General Editor of Benjamin's Selected Writings. His published work includes articles on the theory of art history, modernism in its relationship to capitalist modernity, Weimar culture, and the photo-essay.
