Heinrich Wölfflin
Heinrich Wölfflin (1864–1945) was a seminal Swiss art historian who taught in Basel, Berlin, Munich, and Zurich. He wrote several influential books including Renaissance und Barock (Renaissance and Baroque, 1886), Die klassische Kunst (Classic Art, 1899), and Kunstgeschichtliche Grundbegriffe (Principles of Art History, 1915), in which he formulated principles for the practice of art history.
