William Lockett
William Lockett
William Lockett is a Ph.D. candidate in Media, Culture, and Communication at NYU. His dissertation is a prehistory of the personal computer in America in the 1960s. Arguing that preliterate children were model organisms from which researchers extracted a model of the ideal user, he tracks alternative genealogies of personal computing through the War on Poverty, cybernetic psychiatry, and video culture.
