Coming Attraction: The Event of Color, Techniques of Screening and Filtering in Early “Natural” Color Film and Photography

Rachel Lee Hutcheson is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Art History and Archaeology at Columbia University. This essay is part of her dissertation project, which discusses color technologies and perception at turn of the twentieth century. Her research interests include histories of photography, film and video, media theory, and media archaeology.
