He holds a PhD in Computer Science and has worked with academic labs, government, engineering firms, and the National Research Council of Canada. Abdallah S. Daar is a senior scientist at the McLaughlin-Rotman Centre for Global Health, University Health Network and University of Toronto, and Professor of Public Health Sciences and of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS). He won the UNESCO Avicenna Prize for Ethics and Science in 2005.

Peter A. Singer is interim director of the McLaughlin-Rotman Centre for Global Health, University Health Network and University of Toronto, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative, and recipient of the 2007 Michael Smith Prize for Health Research from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
