Offering Digital Financial Services to Promote Financial Inclusion: Lessons We've Learned Open Access

John Owens is a Director for East Asia for Chemonics International and a Senior Policy Advisor for the Alliance for Financial Inclusion. He has spent the last 25 years managing projects in the field of financial inclusion and promoting digital financial services. He was the former head of the USAID-supported Microenterprise Access to Banking Services project, which was the first to use mobile money (in 2004) to provide greater access to banking services in the Philippines. He has also provided training and guidance to mobile money providers, banks, and regulators from Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific Islands. He is also the Chief Editor of the Mobile Money for Development Blog.
