SYBILLE MOSER-ERNST, a professor of art history at the University of Innsbruck (Austria), was a postdoctoral student of Ernst H. Gombrich in London. She engages in researching the mimetic desire of humans and their need to create images. Her interest focuses on questions of the how of the making of images (Bilder) and of the correlations of religion and art. Ready to cross disciplinary boundaries, she also is a portrait painter. Her next book is on caricature.
