When Image Processing Becomes Image Creation: Gregory Zinman in Conversation with LoVid Unavailable

GREGORY ZINMAN is an associate professor in the Department of Film and Media at Emory University. He is the author of Making Images Move: Handmade Cinema and the Other Arts (University of California Press), co-editor, with John Hanhardt and Edith Decker-Phillips, of We Are in Open Circuits: Writings by Nam June Paik (MIT Press), and curator of Off The Wall @ 725 Ponce, a public screening program in Atlanta. He recently received an Arts Writers Grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation for his next book, Public Scenes: Media Art Outside the Gallery and Museum.

LOVID is the NY-based interdisciplinary artist duo of Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus, working collaboratively since 2001. LoVid’s work has been presented internationally at, among many venues, Postmasters Gallery, And/Or Gallery, Anthology Film Archives, MoMA, and Issue Project Room. LoVid’s projects have received awards from: Guild Hall, The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Eyebeam, Harvestworks, Wave Farm, Rhizome, Franklin Furnace, New York Foundation for the Arts, Lower Manhattan Cultural Center, Experimental TV Center, NY State Council of the Arts, and Greenwall Foundation, among many. LoVid’s videos are distributed by Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI) and their work is in collections such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Moving Image, and Thoma Foundation.
