Abstract
This manifesto argues that interaction design is a harmful concept that needs to be replaced. To design interaction is to design the processes by which a user can act in the digital domain. It is an asymmetric relationship between designer and user. It forces the user to reframe their inner world into the designer’s modelling assumptions. This is especially destructive in activities of self-expression and social communication. It proposes negotiated interaction as an alternative.
