James Clifford is Professor and Chair of History of Consciousness at University of California, Santa Cruz and serves on the Editorial Committee of the University of California Press. He is the author of Routes: Travel and Translation in the Late Twentieth Century (Harvard University Press, 1997) and, most recently, On the Edges of Anthropology (Prickly Paradigm Press, 2003).
