Anthony Kubiak is Professor of Drama at the University of California, Irvine. His most recent book, Agitated States: Performance in the American Theater of Cruelty, investigates the uses of theatre and theatricality in the stagings of American history. He is also the author of Stages of Terror: Terrorism, Ideology, and Coercion as Theatre History. His current project—a series of meditations on art, spirit and the unconscious—is tentatively entitled Ecopoesis: Art as Survival.
