JOAN TEMPLETON, an NEH/Fulbright/American-Scandinavian Foundation scholar, has taught drama in U.S. and French universities. Her books include Ibsen's Women and Munch's Ibsen; her work has appeared in L'Europe, MD, PMLA, Penguin Classics, Scandinavian Studies, TJ, and Themes in Drama. She has served as the president of the Ibsen Society of America and edits its journal, Ibsen News and Comment.
