At the time of his death in 2012, DANIEL C. GEROULD held the distinguished Lucille Lortel Professor of Theatre position at the City University of New York Graduate Center. He made an enormous contribution to the theatre repertoire in the many anthologies of plays and documents that he edited throughout his career. They include The Witkiewicz Reader, American Melodrama, Symbolist Drama, and Theatre/Theory/Theatre. Numerous translations have been published by PAJ Publications. His previously uncollected writings were recently published in Quick Change: Theatre Essays and Translations.
