Introduction: Simulation, Visualization, and Scientific Understanding

Henk W. de Regt is Associate Professor in philosophy of science at the Faculty of Philosophy of VU University Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He has published on various topics in history and philosophy of science, with a focus on scientific understanding and explanation. In 2009 the volume Scientific Understanding: Philosophical Perspectives, which he edited together with Sabina Leonelli and Kai Eigner, was published with the University of Pittsburgh Press.

Wendy S. Parker is Reader in Philosophy and Associate Director of the Centre for Humanities Engaging Science and Society (CHESS) at Durham University. Her research is in general philosophy of science and in philosophy of climate science. She received her Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2003.
