Hijoo Son is a PhD candidate in Korean modern history and culture at UCLA. Her research interests include histories of migration and diaspora, and the construction of ethnic consciousness. Her dissertation examines comparative social processes in the cultural production of Korean diaspora artists in the Pacific Rim, including China, Japan, and the U.S.
