Shaping Contestation: The Katra Mound of Mathura

Frederick Asher is Professor of Art History at the University of Minnesota. He recently completed two terms as President of the American Institute of Indian Studies and chairs the Institute's board. His research includes sculpture in Eastern India and contemporary artists working in traditional modes. His most recent work, Art of India, was published by Encyclopaedia Bntannica in December 2002.
