Irene Brisson is an architectural scholar and designer invested in theorizing and enacting an expanded and inclusive field of architecture. Irene is a doctoral candidate at the University of Michigan completing a dissertation on communication practices in Haitian residential design. Considering speech, gesture, drawing, and building by architects, contractors, and residents, they examine how design interactions vary in complex relationships of class, education, language, race, and nationality to reproduce and challenge the status quo.
