Mitchell Schwarzer was born in San Bernardino, California, and grew up in Queens and Nassau Counties, New York. He has lived mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1981. Professionally, he is an historian whose research interests and classes cover architecture, urbanism, art, landscape, and infrastructure.
James Heard received his B. Arch. from Virginia Tech and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Architecture Studies with a focus in History, Theory, and Criticism at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a licensed architect and co-founded uxo architects, a Los Angeles-based worker-owned and cooperatively operated architecture practice. He is an active member of The Architecture Lobby and was the organization’s former national design coordinator.
