James M. Córdova is associate professor of art history at the University of Colorado at Boulder where he teaches courses on pre-Columbian and colonial Latin American topics as well as theories for art history. He is the author of The Art of Professing in Bourbon Mexico: Crowned-Nun Portraits and Reform in the Convent (2014) and his articles have appeared in The Art Bulletin, Word & Image: A Journal of Verbal/Visual Enquiry, Res: Journal of Anthropology and Aesthetics, and Colonial Latin American Review.
