Alan Rogers is a professor of history at Boston College and the author of Murder and the Death Penalty in Massachusetts (2008) and The Child Cases: How America's Religious Exemption Laws Harm Children (2014). His current project is a study of children sentenced to life imprisonment in the United States without the possibility of parole.
