Lorrayne Carroll is associate professor of English and Women and Gender Studies at the University of Southern Maine. Her book Rhetorical Drag: Gender Impersonation, Captivity, and the Writing of History (2007) is a study of male authors’ use of female voices in women's captivity narratives from the seventeenth through the nineteenth centuries.
