Table 1 presents summary statistics of the data. The upper panel reports the number of entry forms, items per entry, and number of traders in each year of the sample. While the number of entries has increased steadily, the number of items per entry has increased even more rapidly, with an average entry containing around nine items in 2015 compared to just under two in 2001. The total value of exports increased by roughly 260% during this time, from B2.79 trillion to B7.24 trillion.7 A similar picture obtains for imports. All in all, we have information on over 546 million items exported or imported from around 88 million entries over a span of 15 years.
